Michael Chewter started his career in landscape gardening in the late 60s with a well-known local landscape firm. Following a five-year apprenticeship he qualified in all aspects of landscaping including design. After gaining experience for a number of years with local landscaping firms, Michael started his own business as a landscaper and designer in Tunbridge Wells during the 70s under his own name. His work now takes him all over the country and even abroad, including Japan.
Throughout his career Michael Chewter has produced and constructed many designs for many different types of gardens as well as supporting planting schemes. These gardens have ranged from small London courtyard gardens to large country estate gardens. Such designs, constructions and planting include typically English gardens, large lakes, waterfalls, reconstruction of ‘Monet-type bridges’, follies, temples, architectural stonework, pergolas, patios of all descriptions, decking, drives and areas, including the creation of lakes and planting for the purpose of encouraging wildlife, which as been sponsored by local authorities.
